I was a little hesitant to buy these because of the "expander waistband" because I wasn't quite sure how it would work. I can say now that it is definitely worth it as the waist stretches and contracts no matter how large the waist is. I have a 30 inch waist and it supported that. About the leg length, it is not hemmed and this is very useful, but be prepared to take it to a tailor because I had to hem off about 8 inches off the leg to have it fir me correctly. This is a very good product, very comfortable, and very useful if it starts to rain a little bit because the pants, as far as I can tell, are water resistant and the rain beads up on the pant.

Great umpire pants. They are perfect for the warmer months. I love the feel and look. The expander waist is the greatest improvement to any umpire pants.

It's Smitty, what else can I say? Top notch quality. Remember you have to get these hemmed! I doubt I will use these long enough to need the expander waistband (let's hope!), but it helps to ensure a great fit without sending them back.

These are the most comfortable, best-looking pants I’ve had. I’ve recently lost 30 pounds so the expander waistband will come in handy. The value of these pants is unsurpassed!!!!

Pants are lightweight, breath well, comfortable. But very baggy for a smaller guy 5'7" 155lbs.

These are the only umpire pants I will wear on the field now. Lightweight and very breathable. I work at a lot of games on turf during the summer months and found these to be great pants to wear. They are also pretty good for colder weather. But not good with the wind as the wind blow right through them.

These are by far the best umpire pants on the market. They are extremely comfortable. The flexibility that these pants offer allows for optimal movement on the diamond. They are very professional looking as well. A must-add for your umpire bag.

I tried these umpire pants out two years ago, and not sure why I didn't try sooner. Most comfortable umpire pants I've ever owned. I doubt I will ever find something else I like better.

Umpire pants are good quality and very comfortable. I am a pretty big guy, and I find them to be generously cut. In addition to having them hemmed to length, I also had to have them tapered in the legs to keep them from easily stepping on the lower leg opening. I will definitely buy again, but it cost me quite a bit in tailoring for the four pairs of base pants a bought this year.

Haven't worn them, bought for the 2020 season. Look and feel like good quality.

I was referenced by umpires to purchase these pants; this is my first order of the Smitty brand plate and base pant thru Ump-Attire.com. I have rated it on its appearance and fit only, as I have not used them on the field yet, so I am unable rate its quality.

These umpire pants are fantastic and the material lasts quite a while without fading. Currently, these are the only style of umpire pants that I purchase. I have tried others but these have been the best so far.

Yes, it's worth it to get a pair of these base umpire pants to go along with your combo or plate umpire pants. They look great and give you a really nice, professional, non-baggy profile when doing the bases.

I love the look and feel of these pants. I don't recommend this material for the plate as they wear when they rub against something, but for the bases they are great. Only 4 stars because they are definitely NOT wash and wear. You will have to press or steam them to remove the wrinkles, even after removing from the dryer immediately.

Absolutely love the pants. The flexibility and the cool feeling while you're working those hot summer days in July, really does make a difference and they look absolutely fabulous! Very professional, and a true umpire look. Would've given them 5 star, but today my zipper broke off my plate pants, I don't know how it did, but I didn't buy them that long ago. Disappointed in how quickly the zipper broke. But overall, a fabulous pant!!

I was taught that looking the part is very important. If you want to be an umpire you certainly need to look like an umpire. These new pants certainly help in that regard.

Love these umpire pants, wore them all weekend at a training clinic. Looked good all week and remarkably comfortable. All day on the field on a Saturday in Georgia and it was 97 at 6pm. Felt great, would have absolutely died in the old fabric style pants.

These are better than last years model. Waistband is much better. The fit is great, and I have received many compliments on how they look. They feel great when working the plate, and I highly recommend these to all umpires at all levels.

I never knew there was a difference between plate pants and base pants. They are comfortable and you can actually breathe in them and not feel confined in them.

Best of all that is offered. Fit well, look real professional and the expandable waistline allows for flexibility when needed to tuck in a jacket on a cold day. A great buy at any level.

These are great umpire base pants and seem well built! Would have given them a 5th star but the base pants developed a run from the inseam, mid-thigh toward the front of the thigh about 5 inches long after being used and washed less than 5 times last season. The material is light and somewhat water resistant but the run which may have been there the entire time and is really not that noticeable at this point, what worries me is for the cost will they last another full season?!

Great feel. The expander waistband is amazing since I'm always in between sizes kind of guy. Not too tight and not too loose. The material of the pants can make it slick on your hands when holding the set position, but the feel is amazing. Great stuff.

Love these pants. Cool in the summer, warm enough in the fall. Easy to maintain. They don't hold dirt like other material so the don't need to be washed after every use. This means they should last longer. The fit is good. The only kind I'll buy from now on.
