Jan 29th, 2024

We hit the links for UMPS CARE Charities 18th Annual Golf Classic at the Foothills Golf Club of Phoenix, AZ. Staffers Ty Unthank and Brandon Lawson paired up with former staffer Josh Mann and completed the team with Ray Brownlie, owner & operator of the Umplife umpire gear & apparel brand.

Connecting with MLB umpires make this an event we look forward to every year. We met Ben May and Laz Diaz on the green for a celebrity birdie putt (left below). Brandon reunites with fellow Wendelstedt classmate of 2010, John Libka (below right).

This year we donated the newest Wilson MLB V3 Umpire Equipment Bag filled with the latest MLB umpire gear. 25 current & retired MLB umpires signed the bag. UMPS CARE Board Member and MLB Umpire Paul Emmel gave his autograph (below left). At the live auction, the bag went for $1,500 with all proceeds benefiting UMPS CARE!

John Dehan of Call the Game, a Kansas City based sports official recruitment and training organization, had the winning bid (above right)This gear bag was packed with a Wilson MLB Gold Pro 2 Memory Foam Chest ProtectorMemory Foam Shin Guards, and MLB Dyna-Lite Aluminum Mask with Tan Pads. John said he would be passing the equipment along to a Call the Game umpire.

We are proud to annually sponsor and attend the UMPS CARE Golf Classic and the great organization behind it. See you next year at the 19th Golf Classic!
