I would give these umpire shin guards 10 stars if I could. I’ve taken 3 shots in these and haven’t felt a single thing they are extremely comfortable. It does take some adjusting to get used to them but once you do you’ll never own anything else. I can’t brag on these enough; they are worth every penny!

I purchased these umpire shin guards because I needed an upgrade. I wanted shin guards with hook loop fasteners because the ones with plastic snap-together fasteners break easily if a foul ball hits them. Tired of trying to refurb the fasteners. These fit great. I'm kind of tall so I got the longest ones. I haven't used them yet but they feel good and fit great. I feel good about the long-term survival rate of these. I won't need to replace them anytime soon. Rated them 4 stars only because I haven't yet used them behind the plate yet. To quote a friend, "life's a pitch" one at a time. Thanks.

Very comfortable and light shin guards. I've taken multiple shots on both sides and haven't felt a thing. Can really tell the difference with the memory foam pads. Highly recommended.

I purchased the Wilson West Vest MLB Pro Gold 2 shin guards about three weeks ago. I’ve worn them about 10 times already. I love them. They are comfortable and easy to clean. But most of all, doing higher level baseball, when struck in the shin, you just don’t feel anything!

Extremely lightweight, comfortable, without sacrificing protection. I've already used them in 15 games since I bought them a week ago. They’ve been hit by foul tips and occasional wild pitch, no worries!!!! Definitely with the investment!

Much more comfortable than other pairs I’ve used. Worth the extra money for these. Would highly recommend them.

These are the most comfortable low-profile shin guards I’ve ever owned!!! As umpires, we have all been in the situation of having a game and at the very last moment, the ceiling falls out if it rains. We then have to decide if we change in the rain or what?? These shin guards are so comfortable and low-profile that it’s even easy to drive in them!!! No more trying to find a dry place to change, just drive home!!

Bought these shin guards 2 weeks ago, and the padding is very comfortable!!! The padding is detachable and can be machine washed, which is a plus!!! Overall these shin guards are comfortable even after 3 to 6 games behind the plate.

These are by far the best pair of leg guards I have ever worn. The inner lining is extremely comfortable. They don't shift around at all when you are rotating up to third in 3-man. They are lightweight. They provide excellent protection as I have taken many direct hits off 90-plus mph foul tips. You cannot go wrong by purchasing these.

I loved the old Wilson Platinums but switched to Force3 several years ago. They were much lighter but I was never happy with the minimal ankle protection. Used my new Wilsons last week. Very pleased with the knee and ankle coverage. Added the UMPLIFE harness straps yesterday. I have a high-level High School game tomorrow. I'm sure these will be my go-to shin guards for many years to come.

I wore these for the first time today and although I didn’t get hit and can’t comment on the level of protection, I am giving these 5 stars. By far the most comfortable shin guards I have ever worn! Can’t wait to upgrade to the new memory foam chest protector!

Comfortable… the extra toe protection is easily removed when you are wearing plate shoes, or keep it on if you aren’t. Extra protection on sides is nice for those odd passed balls and foul tips. Protection level is sufficient for any level of baseball you want to work.

Easily a 5 star. Great protection and comfortable. Protects above knee caps also. Maybe a little much up to 50/70, then I’d choose something a little lighter. Took a heater straight the shin and put a hole in the pants but didn’t feel a thing. For fitting purposes I’m 5’9 and the 15.5 fit like a glove.

Wilson West Vest Pro Gold 2 Umpire Shin Guards are exactly what I expected them to be. Comfortable fit with the memory foam strip. Excellent protective coverage (although I have not taken a direct hit yet, I’m sure they’ll perform as advertised). Enjoying the peace-of-mind the ankle guards and additional upper knee pads provide (my previous shin guards did not have these features). Would recommend them to any umpire working higher youth, collegiate or pro games.

These are a little more bulky than the Force3 umpire shin guards I previously purchased. I do feel I have better protection on kneecap vs. Force3. These are lighter than the previous West Vest Gold shin guards I purchased years ago. Definitely would recommend for higher level games where velocity gets up there.

I had the Wilson platinum shin guards prior to these. I like these just as much as those. I like that they added the option to take the toe guard off. I don’t feel a thing when I take a ball off of these.

I originally had the Force3 but had to change to these due to sizing. You can't be wrong with Force3, but these Wilsons are top-notch. Very comfortable; I took a few to the shin and did not feel anything. Great product by Wilson!

I recently purchased these as an upgrade for the Diamond Featherweights. The protection is top notch all the while not feeling bulky or heavy. I did 9 ball games this past weekend with 3 behind the plate and did not feel a thing. I highly recommend to umpires of all levels.

These are very similar to the platinum shin guards, which were already my favorite pair of shin guards. I like the memory foam channel and the color on these! I do wish they had all memory foam padding for a lower profile similar to the new chest protector.
First time buying Wilson, and my question is, can I remove the "toe" off of these? – Chance Lester
A:
Yes, the toe guard is removable or adjustable by Velcro.
– Ty Unthank Marketing Specialist, HS & College Umpire
Q:
Hello,
I measure 17.5 inches from my plate shoe to the center of my knee. Which size would you recommend, the 17 or 18.5?
Thank you! – John Stahon
A:
Thanks for the question. We would recommend that you try the 17 inch size. You want to be closer to your true size by 1/2 inch than over by a whole inch. If that does not work out, we do offer free returns.
