I've been an umpire for 10 years and settled on the Wilson West Vest Platinum because the plates are flat with minimal distance between each one. I had problems with my collar bones getting hit a lot, this chest protector fixed that. It is a little short and you'll take it in the gut on occasion but overall a very good chest protector--so much so I just bought one for my son who just started calling this year.
