Purchased these shoes and a little disappointed. While working a JV games took a ball off the toe and now I have a beautiful 1/2” cut all the way to the toe cap. I hope it doesn’t open up any more. Well back to New Balance when these rip open. Buyer beware.

I wanted to like these, but they’re just a lot. The built-in thigh pads and cup insert sound great in theory, and the overall feel isn’t bad when you first put them on. But over time; especially working multiple plates in a day or back-to-back days, they're just uncomfortable. Protection-wise, they’re okay, but not a game changer. I’ve still taken a couple shots to that area and didn’t notice much of a difference, which is kind of the whole point of wearing them. The biggest issue is maintenance. They’re not easy to wash and dry quickly, which makes it tough during long stretches of games. At the end of the day, getting hit is part of umpiring. While the added padding seems nice, the comfort, upkeep, and limited improvement in protection make this a tough purchase to justify.
