Douglas Umpire Chest Protector
Rainbow City, AL
AWESOME CHEST PROTECTOR! I put it to the test the first game, 80-85 mph off the chest and it worked great. Low profile, fits perfect!
Joseph A. B.
This is a low-profile hard shell. The shoulders needed to be bent a bit in order to cover my collarbone. After a few games, I truly enjoyed the overall comfort and protection. It is light and protects me against top velocities. The chest protector breathes very well in the heat, and I love the look of it under my plate coat. With shirts, the bottom can pop out a bit. This creates a squared look in the stomach area, it does not bother me, but another umpire has commented that I look like Spongebob Squarepants. I did not use the original harness, choosing instead to utilize a System Seven style harness. Overall, the cost could be a deterrent, and thinner-waist umpires might not like the look in the stomach area. However, this is my favorite chest protector as it offers the protection of a hard shell, and has a very low-profile look.

Just took my first shot in the shoulder and I'm writing this with an ice pack resting on it. Ball caught the crease between the shoulder and chest. Definite vulnerable spot! Still a good chest protector, but this is going to hurt for a few days.
