High School & Middle School Associations Decisions on Fall Sports
Jul 31st, 2020The following is a list of high school and middle school sports associations decisions on fall sports this season.

State Associations and Fall Sports
- Alabama High School Athletic Association – Fall Sports as planned with Modified Rules
- Alaska School Activities Association – Fall Sports as planned with Modified Rules
- Arizona Interscholastic Association – Start date pushed back until August 17th
- Arkansas Activities Association – Currently plan to have Fall Sports with no delays
- California Interscholastic Federation – All Fall Sports moved to Winter/Spring (December 2020 or January 2021)
- Colorado High School Activities Association – Softball, Boys Tennis, and Boys Golf approved for the Fall. No decision announced for the other sports. Decision expected by 8/1/20.
- Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Association – Fall sports delayed until September 24th, season shortened.
- Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association – No decision announced
- Florida High School Athletic Association – Fall sports delayed until August 24th. Board of Directors meeting week of August 10th.
- Georgia High School Association – Football games delayed 2 weeks. All other Fall Sports remain as scheduled.
- Hawaii High School Athletic Association – Delayed until August 19th.
- Idaho High School Activities Association – Delayed until August 10th.
- Illinois High School Association – Football, Soccer and Volleyball moved to the Spring. Golf, Tennis, Cross Country, and Swimming and Diving remain in the Fall starting August 10th.
- Indiana High School Athletic Association – Fall Sports to continue as Planned
- Iowa High School Athletic Association – Fall Sports to continue as Planned
- Kansas State High School Athletic Association – Fall Sports to continue as Planned
- Kentucky High School Athletic Association – August 24th practices, September 7th games (Football September 11th Games) Final Meeting 8/20/20.
- Louisiana High School Athletic Association – Currently plan to have Fall Sports. Delay is expected but no official announcement yet.
- Maine Principle Association – Fall Sports delayed until September 8th.
- Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association – Decisions made on a county by county basis. Some counties have already cancellations or delays.
- Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association – Delayed until September 14th.
- Michigan High School Athletic Association – Golf, Tennis, Cross Country, and Swimming & Diving may begin competition August 19th or 21st. Football, volleyball and Soccer may practice but no decision on competitions until August 20th.
- Minnesota State High School League – No decision announced
- Mississippi High School Activities Association – Volleyball, Cross Country, and Swim starts August 10th. Football practice starts August 17th, games September 4th.
- Missouri State School Activities Association – Fall Sports to continue as Planned as long as the school district offers in person classes.
- Montana High School Association – Fall Sports to continue as Planned however there is a 5-tiered plan in place in case of a delay.
- Nebraska School Activities Association – Board of Directors meeting August 3rd
- Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association – Fall sports moved to the Spring, begin in Mid-February.
- New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association – Delayed until September 8th
- New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association – Currently planning to begin Mid-September.
- New Mexico Activities Association – Fall sports moved to the Spring.
- New York State Public High School Athletic Association – Fall Sports delayed until September 21st.
- North Carolina High School Athletic Association – Fall Sports delayed until September 1st.
- North Dakota High School Activities Association – Fall Sports to continue as planned.
- Ohio High School Athletic Association – Practices start August 1st. Scrimmages for contact sports suspended (Football, Soccer, and field Hockey). No announcement on games. Awaiting approval from the state office.
- Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association – Fall Sports to continue as planned.
- Oregon School Activities Association – Decision expected August 5th.
- Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association – Fall Sports to continue as planned.
- Rhode Island Interscholastic League – Fall Sports to continue as planned. Principal committee meeting on August 17th.
- South Carolina High School League – Fall Sports delayed until August 17th. Games September 11th.
- South Dakota High School Activities Association – Fall Sports to continue as planned.
- Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association – Fall Sports to continue as planned.
- University Interscholastic League (Texas) – Fall Sports to continue as planned for schools in 1A-4A. 5A and 6A schools are delayed until September 7th.
- Utah High School Activities Association – Fall Sports to continue as planned.
- Vermont Principals Association – Fall Sports delayed until first day of in-school teaching which is September 8th. Games would likely not begin until end of September.
- Virginia High School League – All sports delayed until December.
- Washington Interscholastic Activities Assn/Washington Officials Association – Fall Sports (Cross Country, Slow pitch softball, Girls Swim & Dive, Golf, Tennis) delayed until September 7th. Fall Sports (Soccer, Volleyball, Football) moved to the Spring.
- West Virginia Secondary schools Activities Comm. – Fall Sports delayed until August 17th.
- Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association – Fall Sports (Cross Country, Girls Golf, Girls Tennis, Girls Swimming) delayed until August 17th. Fall Sports (Football, Volleyball, Soccer) delayed until September 7th.
- Wyoming High School Activities Association – Fall Sports to continue as planned.
