Plate-Pro Umpire Shirt Stays Step By Step Instructions

Feb 1st, 2019

The Plate-Pro Umpire Shirt Stays quickly and easily attach to your uniform shirt and any style umpire shin guards. First, check your shin guards and determine if you have a metal D-ring attachment (typically on Wilson, Champro, All-Star, Diamond iX3 and most other brands) or a plastic buckle attachment (found on Force3 and Diamond DLG-LITEs). A simple modification is needed if you have umpire shin guards with plastic buckles.

Shin Guard Buckle Styles

Metal Buckle Shin Guards

  1. Put on your umpire shin guards as usual.
  2. Attach the top shirt stay clasps to your umpire uniform shirt on each side of the v-slit. Put your shirt on (over your chest protector).
  3. Simply attach the shirt stay's bottom spring hook to the metal D-ring on your shin guards closest to your knee.
  4. Adjust the shirt stay's elastic band to the desired tension.

Plastic Buckle Shin Guards

The shirt stay's bottom spring clip is not necessary for plastic buckle style shin guards.

Initially, remove and discard the spring clip by unthreading and re-threading the bottom of your shirt stay strap to maintain a loop. Once this modification is completed, follow these steps for use:

  1. Put on your umpire shin guards as usual.
  2. Attach the top shirt stay clasps to your umpire uniform shirt on each side of the v-slit. Put your shirt on (over your chest protector).
  3. Feed the shin guard strap closest to your knee through the (clip-less) loop and buckle the shin guard.
  4. Adjust the shirt stay's elastic band to the desired tension.
