Richardson Surge Fitted Base Umpire Cap - 8 Stitch

Had the combo cap for years and loved it. I replaced that, and got this base cap too.

Perfect hat when you're not working a HS association game and just need a fitted hat that still looks professional. These hats should be replaced annually which is justified by the price point.

I normally wear size 7 but is was too tight so I returned it and re-ordered a 7 1/8.

This is the only hat I can find in my size. I wear this hat for umpiring and for playing softball. My only problem is that when I first put the hat on, the headband part on the front that sits on my forehead, there's a bump that I can't get out for about a week or so. I've tried bending the bill. I've tried leaving it as is. Still, the first couple of wears, the front of my head takes a beating. I hope Richardson can do something about it. I love the hat, but if that could be fixed, the hat is a 5-star!

These hats are so comfortable. I still like to use a six-stitch for behind the plate, and this gives no budge when pulling the mask off.

Cap is true-to-size, fits comfortably and looks good. Not flat rolled back kind of hat. It sits nicely on my head and I have a melon.

While looking a my gear, I noticed my black caps were looking a little tired. Since it was time to replace with a crisp new cap, you cannot go wrong with a fitted Richardson cap. I like to look sharp with I walk onto the field and a nice clean cap is part of that equation.

The umpire caps I've received as well as my grandson who recently became the 3rd generation Umpire, have really been received well. The sizes fit, they're comfortable and they're sturdy and machine washable. But do NOT put them in the dryer. Take them out of the wash and box it if you box it (I do) while they're wet and set it aside to dry. They're a great cap.
