I never wore a throat guard before this season. Then I recently took a shot just below the mask and above my chest protector. I immediately bought this protector which fits my mask perfectly. It's small so it doesn't bother me during games. Often I forget it's even there but worth wearing so as not to go through the pain experienced when I was hit. Great value!

I don't like the big throat guards, but I'd taken a few bad pitches that bounced off the ground to the throat area so I decided to get this one and it's perfect in my opinion.

The 4 inch one says Y which I think stands for youth, but it works great as a little extra protection on an umpire mask. Don't really think you can go wrong.
