Diamond iX3 Umpire Chest Protector

Ended up returning due size and fit. I felt it was too short without extension and too long with. Otherwise seemed to be great quality.

This vest is extremely light and great for softball umpiring.

Primarily use this chest protector for Freshman and JV games. Would feel comfortable wearing it during varsity as well. Fairly lightweight and breathable, can still wear during hot summer days. The extra upper arm guards and lower ab guards are a nice addition and can be removed.

Very light weight. Have not tried above 12U.

I've used this chest protector for around 6 games so far on 14u. I love the slim fit but a little worried that it might not be as protecting as my hard shell Wilson Pro West Vest. I mainly bought this one for the middle of summer and fall when I'm on the field for 8 games a day. I feel like this chest protector will be much cooler.

Wanted something lighter and slimmer than my plated chest protector for games with the younger ages. This definitely met that criteria and it feels like there is some internal plates so I don't think it will sacrifice much protection, if any at all. Can't confirm that until I've taken a few more foul ball hits. It is very customizable: the arm guards and belly extension are included and can easily be attached or removed depending on preference.

Husband and son both use this for umpiring Little League & youth thru high school. Lightweight and cooler than the rigid plastic style and yet still provides good protection. Easy on/off and adjustments.

Perfect for little league, lightweight, comfortable, easy on off, harness stays secure, plastic snaps are nice, protects well. Cloth material is very nice.

Good Chest Protector; I just purchased to replace the same model that I used for about 10 years. This will get you through the softball games and lower caliber baseball games (I use a hard shell for higher level baseball). Light weight, comfortable and solid protection.

This is a great umpire chest protector. Works great for LL but not sure how well it would do for a high speed 90MPH fast ball. I've got hit plenty it has been just fine. Comfortable and a nice tight fit, not like the monster looking hard shell. Does great on hot days as well.

My first real CP and it has served me well. For HS baseball and softball it does the job. Working above that stretches its limits as far as pain/protection to the chest area. Great starter CP and if I were to continue just HS ball I would buy another. Those one to two balls a year that get through can cause some discomfort and test your ability to stay in there, but only in the 80+ mph range, otherwise, great CP.

This is a replacement chest protector for the one I've had for over 7 years and over 1300 games. Provides the protection needed with being very comfortable in any weather environment.

This chest protector has worked very well since I got it. I haven't had it for very long, but for the few foul balls I've taken since getting it, it has been very effective protecting my chest and shoulders, and the extra stomach protector can be nice if it fits.

Fits tight and provides good coverage. Can feel hits but no pain. Best soft shell protector I've had.

I umpire from 9-10 level to 15-16 year old level. I have been hit with several foul balls and wild pitches and felt very little when it hit this chest protector. It is very light feeling and easy to adjust. Highly recommend.

Very nice chest protector. Used in perfect game and showcase tournament, as well as HS varsity. Felt a little with foul balls, but very minimal. Second one I have owned.

I'll use this Chest Protector for D3 games. You feel the impact but no pain. I like the comfort and it's low profile. Looks good, not like robo cop. It's a trade off, my Douglas is bullet-proof but not as light or as cool on hot days.

I had been using a similar chest protector but it has a hard shell and was not real comfortable and was difficult at times getting a shirt over when I strapped in. This CP is so light, comfortable but protective at all levels of baseball and softball. I'm sure I'll be using it for a long time.

I have been umpiring in the iX3 chest protector for 7 years, including 3 at the HS varsity level. This is a great CP for that level down to Little League, fits fantastic, is comfortable to wear even in 97 degree temps with 97% humidity. It has all original straps and once adjusted, NEVER moves. I have had no problems with balls hitting me at 90+ mph. I would recommend this CP and would compare it favorably to CPs priced double. I ordered the iX3-CPUX and returned it because it did not fit and feel as secure. I have never worn a Wilson CP, so can't compare the iX3 to a West Vest model. Also, the Ump-Attire.com service is super!

Seven seasons of little league, junior league and a few senior league games and this CP is still as strong as the day it came out of the box.

An excellent CP for younger-aged leagues. I have worked many games at the 9-12 year old level and this CP has provided fantastic protection. I felt a little exposed, however, at the 13-15 age level as the foul tips create a bit more discomfort. No bruises, but you definitely know you've been hit. I've worn this CP for 3 years and it has held up remarkably well. I would recommend it to anyone calling younger level games. A great bargain for the price!

I bought this chest protector because my west vest gets a little hot during summer ball. Have been very pleased so far. Great protection and not as hot.

I purchased this protector as a supplement to my West Vest to use for Little League games. I would not recommend it for anything more than that, but it is a good, lightweight protector for the money. I enjoy the fit and movement. Importantly, it actually protects my collarbone while also covering my ribs, even without the detachable lower section, which is a feature I had trouble finding due to my long body type. I was hit by a foul ball the very first time I wore it, and it stood up fairly well (definitely felt it more than my West Vest, but that's the trade off for lighter weight). One downside: I have been hit where the stitching is located, and while not painful, you can definitely feel it more than when you get hit in the other sections. Overall a quality soft protector for the money.

This is my second chest protector of this style. The first one lasted 7 years and I still use it if I have back to back plates so I have a dry one each game. Well made and great protection. I ump mostly 16 yr old and under, but I have used it for 18 and under.

Great product for the price. Great protection and keeps you very cool. Can't wash the pads is the only downside, because they are riveted to the hard shell

I purchased this chest protector 5 years ago. It has far exceeded my expectations. I've used it from recreational to HS ball. It has been through 5 seasons of baseball with me and wouldn't dream of having anything else. It is light weight and has great coverage for the biceps. The extension protects the lower waist (if you need it). This protector does what it's suppose to do. It is great for a starting umpire as well as the seasoned pro. I just hope it is still being made when I get a new one.

After a game taking a couple of hard foul balls off the chest protector provided by the league, I found myself flinching behind the plate. That night I ordered the Diamond iX3 Chest Protector and have loved it. It's lightweight with removable arm and waist extensions, and the price is great. Best of all, the flinching is gone!

Pretty good protection with this chest protector. I like that it is lite which helps me move more freely. I have taken a few pretty good shots and the Diamond iX3 has absorbed the hits quite well. I would recommend this chest protector to anyone.

I have used this protector for working travel baseball involving HS age players. I took a foul ball off the left chest this past weekend. I felt it, but other than a little stiff (my left arm does not move much behind the plate) there was no bruising to my chest at point of contact. Solid protector for anyojn working at the HS level or below where you may get stuck working one man crew as the lightweight sense of the protector will allow you to move well.

I really like this chest protector. I use it for little league games through high school level. I would not recommend wearing it at any level higher than high school. I've been hit several times wearing this and not once has it hurt however at the high school level you will definitely know the ball has hit you. Overall a great lightweight chest protector.

I love it. Very comfortable, it works great for me because I work both baseball and softball, all levels, and this protector will give me the protection I need working any level. Protection and comfort at an affordable price.

I purchased the Diamond iX3 chest protector before this season and absolutely love it. It is very lightweight, flexible, and extremely comfortable. The outer fabric will prolong the life of my shirts, and with the sturdy plates under the fabric, protection is not at all compromised. The attached bicep protection is great, never leaving me to constantly have to adjust them. I have umpired approximately 75 games with this protector, and it has held up great. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable protector without giving up anything in the way of protection.

This is a great, light weight protector and offers very good protection. I have used it in some intermediate baseball games (that's a competitive men's league here with some fella's throwing 75 and 85 miles per hour) and this chest protector has been great. At first, I had some concerns because of the lightness of this protector however, my worries are gone and I know I am safe. Great item at an unbeatable price.
