Wilson MLB Gold 6" Umpire Throat Guard

Had the 4” Wilson Guard for years. Decided to go the 6” after a few fouls got too close to the neck area. High School kids keep getting bigger and stronger and I’m sure this guard is gonna protect me better.

I bought this 6 inch throat protector. It is of excellent quality and very attractive. It makes you feel mostly protected the moment a foul ball comes out you will no longer have to worry.

Excellent quality! And, the gold “W” matches the pads on my titanium mask. The perception of many is, you’re as good as you look. Recently, a ball was fouled back, and I had thought my lower mask was struck, but after the game, I noticed a ball mark on my throat protector. The protector was not compromised in any way (nor was my throat). Had I not been wearing a guard, surely I would have been hit above my chest protector and likely in my throat area.

A solid piece of equipment, well worth the price. My only issue is that it will catch in the buttons on my shirts, but that is my only complaint with the protector. Other than that it has already paid for itself.

I purchased the 6" version of this throat guard. Matches my Wilson mask perfectly and is an excellent addition to my safety equipment. For my money, this or any throat guard is a must...never go behind the plate without one!

Excellent product. I like that the colors match with my mask. Thankfully, I haven't had it tested with a shot to the throat, but I'm confident that this product will do it's job when/if the time comes.

Easy to use and helpful especially in Little League games.

First of all, all plate umpires should wear a throat guard. As a former catcher, I started wearing one back in the early 80's and I have been spared from a serious injury many times. You may not like the click-clack but, that can be solved with a small, rubber adhesive furniture bumper like what you would see inside a kitchen cabinet to keep it from making an audible bang. I have yet to see a plate umpire get seriously injured while wearing a throat guard. Second, if you're going to wear a Wilson mask, I highly recommend the Wilson throat guard for a uniform appearance and elite protection. Perfect protection for your throat. I always go with the 6 inch now for my traditional umpire masks, much better protection and this one matches my Wilson perfectly.

I bought this umpire throat guard to replace my old throat guard since it has the MLB logo which I think looks really nice. Also, the yellow "W" matches my chest protector. I took a foul ball right to the throat today which was hit so hard it knocked the protector clean off! A must-have in my opinion.

Guys, $13.00 may seem like no big deal until you take one to the throat. Then $13.00 is worth every penny of air when you can't breathe. Best investment so far. In less than 2 weeks it's saved me.

Nice, classy, the only thing is that the paint comes off of the Wilson "W" from rubbing on the bottom of the mask.

This has been a great investment. After purchasing this I took a hard foul ball off my throat protector and if I had not had it on my have not been talking today. This product done it job that day and did not leave a scratch on me are the protector. Well done and well built.
