BIG fan of this umpire mask. Yes, it is heaver than your other traditional umpire masks but in my opinion it is not noticeable enough to be a deal breaker. First batter to come up even threw me a complement on it. Force3 is doing something right with this umpire mask.

Awesome mask. Prior Wilson mask welds broke after years of use. Bought the Force3 Defender umpire mask. It got initiated at a showcase tournament in Franklin, TX. Didn't feel a thing. Absorbed the force of 80+ fastball no problem. Mask not a virgin no more. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The Force3 Defender Umpire Mask is heavier than my current Honig's mask equipped with Team Wendy Pads. The difference is 0.28 lbs or almost 1/3 of a lb. After just wearing the mask for an extended period of time the weight difference is noticeable. I think the reason it seems much heavier is because the weight is further from your face due to the dual cage setup. I am hoping this can be overcome with use as I feel The Defender does provide more protection. The other issue I have is with the harness. I have a large head 7-5/8" and the harness was too deep from top to bottom as if it was designed more for use while wearing a catcher's helmet. The side of the harness came down over the tops of my ears. I replaced the Force3 harness with a MLB harness and it fits just fine with a cap. I have not had a chance to try in a game setting so only 3-1/2 stars for now.
