"I have been umpiring for 4 years with CJUA in New Jersey and the last 2 seasons I have joined a high school association. I started out 4 years ago umpiring Little League, recreation and travel baseball. I recently became varsity certified and started doing a higher level of baseball including a college summer league. I purchased 4 years ago an entire set of Diamond umpire equipment from Ump-Attire. I had the iX3 shin guards and chest protector and the original black iX3 Feather Weight mask. I absolutely loved it all but as I started to umpire higher level games I realized I needed to move up to better gear. This year I purchased this mask (A3009T-BK). ABSOLUTELY love it. It was expensive and that is the main reason I held back from purchasing this mask last season. I hate the two-tone pad look and the low profile masks. I have some friends who have low profile masks and they all swear they will never buy another one as the direct shots to the face really ring their bell. The new option of the all black pad and the regular profile mask was a no brainer for me. I had to have it. I have already umpired about 40 games with this mask this season on all levels from Little League to High School and not a single problem. I have taken a couple of direct shots to the mask and felt nothing. The ball just bounced away and the Wilson pads really cushioned the blow a lot better than my old iX3 mask did. The mask looks and feels great and very comfortable. I would highly recommend it to anyone. I have tried many different masks and many different styles but once you put this mask on and work a couple of games it is unsurpassed and I couldn't be any happier. I wouldn't change a thing about the mask. In my mind it is perfect."

"I purchased this product (#A3009T-BK) prior to the beginning of the 2010 season. I work multiple levels of baseball from Little League, men and college aged players so a light, durable, safe mask was my mission from the start. In February of 2009 I was bound and determined to purchase the low profile version of this mask. I am glad I chose to wait and purchase the standard curve profile version. The mask has taken several shots and it shows no wear from a 90 mph fastball or foul that it has taken. The mask is very comfortable it is not overbearing and bulky as the photo may indicate. Actually with this product the photo gives the mask purchaser several mixed messages and may hinder its marketability. I showed the photo to several members of my association prior to having the mask in hand. All of the veteran umpires looked at the photo and without missing a beat stated that it looked big, awkward, overbearing and outright unsightly. Later when I had the mask in hand and asked each member to try it on they were surprised by how comfortable the weight was and that it is not as bulky as the photo indicates. In the case of this product the extra padding seems to block out (in the photo) the umpire's mouth. This may make the purchaser uneasy regarding how their verbal mechanics and calls can be relayed effectively. I have been told in the past that I am not the loudest umpire and to date have not had this complaint or remark from one player, coach or umpire since wearing the mask."

"I have used the Wilson mask for about six games this season. I umpire 10-12 year olds. I am very happy with the mask. I've used the light Diamond Feather Weight before and liked that mask as well but I find that I prefer the leather padding of the Wilson mask. Although I have not umpired any games in the hot and humid Virginia summer yet I have taken a few direct hits off bats and missed pitches already and it absorbed the impact as well as any mask I have worn in my five years behind the plate. Count me as happy with the mask."
